Fa La La La La.... Christmas 2011

Christmas in our house seemed crazy this year! With this being Hudson's first Christmas I struggled with finding a balance between wanting to make it amazing and buy him all sorts of toys and realizing that he will not remember this day. I tried to meet in the middle and I think I did pretty well. It was a memorable day for everyone and we had a lot of fun!
I couldn't resist this adorable little pirate ship rocker! It is just so stinkin cute! Argh Mateys.... do you think he likes it as much as I do?
This year the girls asked for American girl dolls. They have been totally amazed by the store that opened at Alderwood Mall recently and ask to go in every time we are there. It is honestly a little girls dream, a whole store filled with dolls and clothes and accessories where you can even have lunch with your doll in a (very pink) cafe...... I am sure we will be making many trips there in the future! I chose to get them dolls that look like them and they are thrilled :)
It's hard to see in this picture but Khiarras doll has little pink glasses like hers, she was so excited!
Madison had to get the cat in on the festivities too.... whether he liked it or not...
And at the end of the morning this is what my living room looked like! Quite the mess to clean up but it was worth it, as always, and the girls were very excited and happy with all of their gifts!
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and great Holidays!

We say "I do".... FINALLY!

After almost 8 years together Ken and I were married on November 23, 2011. I am not a big event type of person and I really don't have the time to plan a wedding so we had a very small ceremony at the courthouse here in Everett with our children and a few close friends and family members. It was a little bit last minute as we started planning just a week prior but it was perfect for us and I am very excited to be able to call him my Husband, it really has been a long time coming!

We do have a few pictures of us on our "big day" and I will post them soon :)
I hope to plan a reception for all of our extended family and friends this upcoming Spring or Summer so stay tuned for the announcement :)

Halloween

Halloween this year was REALLY cold but we had a lot of fun trick or treating with Donovan, Adawna and Maxten. Khiarra was an adorable Kitty, Madison Sleeping Beauty (what else for a little Princess?), Hudson was a hamburger (fitting of his husky stature :) and Maxten was a scary Monster! Here we are:

Family picture.... cutest little Hamburger ever!

Daddy with the lil man... he was soooo cold!

At the end of the night we stopped in at Uncle Steve and Aunt Teri's house for a surprise visit!

Poor Husdon looks pretty scared between all those crazy girls!

Before Halloween Daddy helped the girls carve their pumpkins....

Updates

So apparently I am a terrible blogger... it has been months since I have even looked at any blog and we have had so many exciting things happen in that time! I have not posted since the end of September so I will try to fill you in on all the goings-on in our lives. Thanks for being patient with me!

Soccer debacle...

Last night Ken got home at 6,which never happens, so we decided to take the kids to the park to play soccer.... More like he plays soccer with them and I watch.
I had signed them up to play soccer in a beginning class but it got canceled at the last minute so they have been whining to get out on the field.
We get to the park and they are kicking the ball around, practicing trying to score on Ken and pretty much just running like crazy. So anyway, Ken decides to 'show them how it's done' and kicks Khiarra'sball over the fence into the dark woods filled with blackberry bushes. Madison immediately starts crying because, being her, she doesn't want to share her ball with Khi and then Khi is upset because she's worried he won't find it. Next thing I know Khiarra is screaming at the top of her lungs because she got stung by a bee through her sock. Madison then decides to start crying because she is worried about Daddy being in the dark woods and scared he won't come out.
Well, Daddy came through and found the ball and managed to find his way out of the woods. Thankfully, Khiarra is not allergic to bee stings but we did get to listen to her whine all night, so that was fun, lol. All in all it was a short, and very eventful trip to the park to play soccer. We'll try again another day!

Madison's is 6!!!

Madison turned 6 on Sept 17th and we had an awesome party at Imagine Children's Museum in Everett on Sunday the 18th. She had a ton of fun and we got to see a lot of friends and family. Here are some pictures from the "big event" haha.

She totally made out like a bandit!

Loving her Justin Bieber toys from her cousins :)

Look how happy Great Grandpa looks with his first (and only) Great Grandson :)

Overall it was a great party and I hope everyone had fun!

We're Sick!

So I am already falling behind in this whole blogging thing! I wanted to just do a quick update this week and I will try to update once a week from now on. We are all sick right now and poor Hudson has the worst of it. He has a cough and a stuffy nose with a fever, all of this makes it hard for him to eat and so he is just miserable most of the time :( I'm hoping it turns around quickly as I have a stuffy nose and sinus headache and I can only imagine what it feels like to be him and feel like this!
The girls were very excited to start soccer today, we even went out and bought cleats and shin guards but I got a call today saying that they were cancelling it due to low enrollment this session! I feel awful because they were so excited but Khiarra will be starting Ballet again soon and Madison will be taking Hip Hop so hopefully that will appease them for now.
Ken has been working like crazy, usually 12 hr+ days because they are short a person in the finance office. I am so grateful to him for working so hard to take care of us while I am at home! Thank you babe, we love you so much! I am planning on returning to work the beginning of next month. I am really nervous about going back as I have been home now for 5 months and I don't want to leave my little man. It helps that I really love my job and the Doctor I work for so hopefully that will make things better, plus it will only be part time so hopefully I can keep up on things at home also.
Khiarra recently got a nice treat from Grandma Pam... her very own horse! Khiarra has always shown a love for animals and horses and has been riding since she was very small. My mom got her a beautiful little palomino named Honey. Khiarra is totally in love and likes to brush her and can be found just standing with her in her stall or out in the pasture. I have added a picture of the girls with Honey, it's not great so the next time I make it up to Bellingham I will get some better ones and post them.

Museum of Flight

A couple weeks ago we took one of our first day trips out of the house with the new little guy and went down to Seatac to the museum of flight. The kids loved the WWI and WWII exhibits and learned a lot! We had a lot of fun checking out the planes, they even went inside Air Force One! This is definately somewhere we will go back to again.

Welcome Baby Hudson!

Hudson Jones Fisher

-July 15, 2011-

After 9 VERY long months we welcomed baby Hudson into the world. He was born at 2:53 am on Friday, July 15 at Overlake Hospital Medical Center in Bellevue, Washington. He was 3 weeks early and weighed in at 6 lbs, 10 oz. He is the most beautiful and perfect little man and we are so thankful that he is healthy!

A VERY proud Daddy :)

Growing a Baby is tough!

When we found out we were pregnant again it was November 2010. We were very excited and hoping to add a little boy to our family of 2 gorgeous girls. Things started off ok, I was feeling pretty normal, just tired, and everything seemed ok for the first couple months. Then the morning sickness started, except it wasn't just in the morning, it was all day and I started losing weight really quickly. After one really bad weekend where I was unable to drink even water for 72 hours my Doctor recommended I have a PICC line placed so that I could give my self medication to help control the nausea. A PICC line is a tube that is placed through a vein the arm and is threaded into the chest. Here is some information if your interested. http://piccexcellence.com/piccinfo/picc_info.php#whatpicc
It helped a lot! I gave myself medicine every 6 hours and hardly threw up at all, I was gaining weight and the baby looked good.
We had our gender ultrasound on Valentines Day and learned that we were having a little boy. We could not have been more excited as we called everyone and started planning to meet our little man.
The next couple months were pretty good, I continued to gain weight and baby Boy was thriving and healthy in my tummy. Everything changes just before Easter. I had complained to my OB a few days before that I felt like my kidneys were hurting and I just didn't feel right. She did a urinalysis and sent out for labs and said everything was fine with so sign of infection. So I went on with my normal day to day taking care of the kids and going to work. That weekend we went to an Easter egg hunt and I was having a hard time walking, my legs and back were really bothering me. I just brushed it off thinking it was just because I was progressing in my pregnancy and was going to be uncomfortbale.
After the hunt (which was on Saturday) I loaded up the girls and headed to my Moms house in Bellingham. I was very tired when we got there and had no appetite. I just figured I needed to rest, so I tried to go to bed. I was awake all night with horrible back pain, to the point where I could hardly walk to the restroom (which can become quite a problem when you are peeing every 10 minutes with a little man pushing on your bladder). I didn't sleep at all and was sweating, I had a fever. Sunday morning I was trying to rest on the couch but I could tell that things were getting worse, quickly. We decided that it was best not to take any chances and we headed off to the emergency room. Ken had been working the previous day but was headed up to spend the day with us and go to another Easter egg hunt at one of my best friends houses. He arrived just as we were leaving for the hospital and stayed to take care of the girls and take them to the Easter egg hunt.
When we arrived at the hospital they assumed I was in pre-term labor as I was in pain and was 26 weeks along. I was sent to the Childbirth Center and tests were ordered. They initially started me on fluids through and IV, which is a very common thing for them to do, that turned out to be the worst thing they could have done. My initial blood tests weren't revealing anything abnormal but I was needing strong pain medication and I was still very uncomfortable. After 24 hours some preliminary tests came back and showed growth. I had Sepsis, an infection in my blood which they determined must have come from my PICC line.
By the time this was realized I was already in respiratoty distress and had pneumonia from the amount of fuids that I had been given. All of this together led to a condition called ARDS. Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome is a serious condition which often proves fatal, especially when combined with the sepsis that I had. Approximately one third of people with ARDS die.

My blood oxygen levels dropped dangerously low and I was transfered to the ICU where they attempted to use a positive end-expiratory pressure machine which is a heavy mask which is placed over the face and chest in an attempt to stimulate breathing and oxygen absorbtion. I was extremely agitated and had to be sedated. I only remember bits and pieces of my time in the ICU in Bellingham but I know that they inserted a central line into my neck, which was very painful, just before they completely sedated me and intubated. Here is some information about what a central line is:
http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=14394
I was completely dependent on a respirator at this point and was airlifted by helicopter to the University of Washington Medical Center where I spent 4 days unconscious and in Intensive Care. I was not able to breathe on my own at all and was not absorbing any oxygen on my own. They were incredibly worried about the baby and monitored him closely during this time. The University of Washington was chosen not only because they are the top hospital in the Seattle area but because they host a Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit. If the baby needed to be delivered this was where we wanted to be, he would have the best chance at survival.
When I arrived at the University my condition was critical and my "team" of doctors, which I later came to refer to them as, were preparing my family for the worst. They were unsure if I would recover at all and were fairly certain I would have some lasting health problems.
I spent 4 days in ICU completely sedated and intubated.
When I woke up I had no idea where I was and I remember being very confused with the tube in my throat. It was another very scary experience. That same day the breathing tube and feeding tubes were removed and I was transfered to the maternity medical ward with just nasal oxygen.
I spent the next week in that room, I was able to walk again after a few days and started eating, I had minimal pain and I was recovering well. I was constantly being told by Physicians and Nurses that they were amazed at my recovery.
I am very greatful for the care that I recieved while I was at the University of Washington, I had an amazing team of Doctors and Nurses and they are truly to be comended for all of their hard work. They brought me back from the edge and gave me the chance to raise my 3 children.
I am now happy and healthy with no long term damage to my heart or lungs. This experience was humbling in many ways and makes me realize just how fragile life really is. I will try in my everyday life to remember that I am lucky to be here and remind myself to take things as they come. God really does have a plan for every one of us and he was not ready to welcome me into His kingdom just yet.

Enjoy every day you are given and try to take it all in because "today's little moments become tomorrow's precious memories".

I wanted to start a blog to chronicle our crazy life as a family of 5. I love to read other blogs and so I, likely being overconfident, figured I can do that :) So begins my foray into blogging, lets see how it goes!
